Madison County is a quiet, rural county north of Charlottesville, where the Blue Ridge meets rolling farmland and orchards. Its western edge lies in Shenandoah National Park, including Old Rag Mountain, one of the most popular hikes in Virginia. The town of Madison, the county seat, sits on Route 29, and the Rapidan River runs along its eastern border. Madison is a good fit for buyers looking for farms, land and mountain views within an easy drive of Charlottesville and Culpeper.
